About this state

Taman Negara protects one of Earth’s oldest tropical rainforests, centred on the Tembeling River and the highlands of Gunung Tahan. Visitors reach Kuala Tahan by boat or road, then explore canopy walks, jungle trails and riverside lodges that still feel deep in the wild. The park’s character is ancient forest and Malay jungle adventure: night walks for insects and frogs, river boat rides, and the chance to spot wildlife if you move quietly. Come for the canopy bridge views, hire a licensed guide for longer treks, and treat humidity, leeches and sudden rain as part of the experience. Treat humidity, leeches and sudden rain as part of the experience—the reward is standing inside one of Earth’s oldest living rainforests.
