Dayang Bunting Lake

About this state

Dayang Bunting Lake on Pulau Dayang Bunting is Langkawi’s celebrated freshwater lake, set in a limestone bowl with emerald water and a famous fertility legend. Boat trips from the main island bring you to swim platforms and jungle-framed shores that feel worlds away from Cenang’s beach strip. The lake’s name—“Pregnant Maiden”—anchors one of Langkawi’s best-known folk tales. Come for a half-day island hop: swim if conditions allow, photograph the green water against karst walls, and listen to the legend from your boatman. It pairs well with mangroves or other island stops for a classic Langkawi day of sea, myth and still inland water.
