About this state
Pulau Kapas is a nearshore island off Marang in Terengganu, known for powdery sand, clear shallows, and an easy boat ride from the mainland. Snorkelling reefs and quiet beaches make it a favourite east-coast day trip, with a slower pace than larger resort islands. Fishing-village roots and turquoise water give the island a classic Peninsular Malaysia island feel without long travel times.
Come for a swim-and-snorkel escape: board a short boat from Marang, float over coral gardens, and lounge under casuarina shade.
It suits travellers who want white sand and reef colour in a single day, returning to the mainland by evening with salt on the skin and an easy island memory.
