About this state
The Tip of Borneo—Tanjung Simpang Mengayau near Kudat, Sabah—is the island’s northernmost headland, a cliff-and-sea icon made for wind, wide horizons and photographs. Local lore says the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea meet here; a monument marks where land ends and blue begins.
Walk the breezy cliffs and rocky platforms, pause at the monument, and stay for late-afternoon light when the headland feels especially dramatic. Bring a jacket—the wind is part of the visit.
Come for that rare “end of the island” moment: simple, vast and unforgettable against Sabah’s northern coast.
