About this state
Mari Mari Cultural Village near Kota Kinabalu introduces Sabah’s major ethnic groups through traditional houses, craft demos, food tastings and dance performances in a forest setting. Half-day tours give visitors a condensed, hands-on sense of Borneo highland and coastal cultures.
The village is interpretive living heritage—built for learning and welcome rather than a museum behind glass. Book ahead, wear closed shoes for uneven paths, and join activities with respect; photography is usually welcome when hosts invite it.
It is one of the clearest half-day culture introductions near Kota Kinabalu—memorable, structured and welcoming.
