Kek Lok Si Temple
极乐寺
Kek Lok Si Temple is the largest Buddhist temple complex in Southeast Asia and an iconic landmark of Penang. Built against a lush hillside, it features a 36.5-meter bronze Guanyin statue and the Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas. The temple’s prestige is highlighted by its imperial treasures: the Grand Hall houses the "Qin Ci Le Shan Hao Shi" plaque bestowed by Emperor Guangxu, while the entrance is graced with Empress Dowager Cixi’s "Hai Tian Fu Di" calligraphy; during the Lunar New Year, the entire sanctuary is illuminated by tens of thousands of lanterns, creating a radiant spectacle.

Clan Jetties

The Clan Jetties are a collection of unique floating villages in George Town, established by Chinese immigrants who settled together based on their clan origins. Built on stilts over the sea, the remaining major jetties include Lim, Chew, Tan, Yeoh, Lee Jetty, and Mixed Surname Jetty. Among them, Chew Jetty is the largest and most famous.
